SDDF’s Role & Purpose

Our Mission for Older Persons

SDDF works to ensure that older persons—especially from disadvantaged communities—enjoy health, participation, and security. We do this through community health outreach, digital inclusion, livelihoods and skills, and intergenerational programs that elevate voices and reduce isolation.

Alignment with Global Frameworks

  • UN IDOP: A mandate to recognize rights, challenge ageism, and build age‑friendly societies.
  • 2025 IDOP Theme: Positions older persons as drivers of action and policy.
  • SDGs: Our work contributes directly to SDG 3, SDG 10, SDG 11 by improving health access, reducing inequalities, and co‑creating age‑friendly places.

Why We Act Now

Demographic shifts are rapid: the population aged 60+ has surged to ~1.2 billion in 2025, with the fastest growth in developing regions—where access to health, social protection, and age‑friendly infrastructure can be most constrained. Putting older persons’ rights at the center is essential to sustainable development.
